Coloring Contest

It is time once again for the annual Elizabethtown Fair Coloring Contest for children ages 4 to 10. Age divisions will be 4, 5-6, 7-8, and 9-10. Just color the picture and submit it to the Elizabethtown Brethren in Christ Church on Monday, August 21st between 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Photocopies are acceptable, but enlargements will not be accepted. Ribbons will be awarded 1st through 5th place. All entries will be displayed throughout the week. Winning entries will be mailed to their owners at the close of the Fair. Baby Photo Contest

A Baby Photo Contest will again take place during the Elizabethtown Fair this year. Children two years of age or younger are eligible. The deadline for entry is noon on Saturday, August 19th. The contest is being run by the Elizabethtown Fire Company. Photographs may be dropped at the Firehouse between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. daily the week of August 14th. Photographs will also be accepted in the Fair Office between 9 a.m. and 12:00 noon on Saturday, August 19th. To make other arrangements contact Lisa at 471-3192.

Although any 5 x 7 or 8 x 10 photographs are acceptable for entry, it is recommended that vertical 8 x 10 photographs be submitted for display purposes. Photocopies will be accepted. Parent’s and child’s name, address and phone number are to appear on the back of the photograph. The photos will be displayed at the Fair throughout Fair Week. It is recommended that photos be picked up Saturday, August 26th, at the Fair’s Information Booth, following the announcement of winners. Any photos not picked up at this time will be available for pick-up at Firehouse. All photos must be claimed by September 8, 2017.

For voting purposes, during Fair Week, one cent equals one vote. All forms of U.S. currency are acceptable. Winners will be announced at approximately 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 26th. The contest will be sponsored by the Elizabethtown Fire Department. Proceeds from the contest will benefit the Elizabethtown Fire Department and the Elizabethtown Fair. Talent Show

The Elizabethtown Fair will be hosting the annual Talent Show on Tuesday Night August 22nd at 6:30 p.m. on the Main Stage. The contest is open to any amateur from the greater Elizabethtown Area. No full bands allowed. There will be four divisions: Adult Amateurs, Youth Amateurs (up to and including age 18), Lip Sync and Itty Bitty (under age 10).

Any type of talent is acceptable. Contestants will perform a two to three minute act. Each presentation must be fully staged with costumes, props, dancing etc. when applicable.

All contestants must supply their own CD for song or dance to be performed. All lyrics and music to be used at the discretion of the contest officials. No profanity or inappropriate actions or dress will be permitted. If act is deemed inappropriate, the performance will be terminated immediately. Judging criteria will include music ability, (when applicable) choreography (when applicable), costuming, originality and creativity, stage presentation, effectiveness and overall presentation. The decision of the judges is final.

First, second and third place winners will receive prize monies.

Pet Photo Contest

The twenty-second annual Pet Photo Contest will be held at the Elizabethtown Fair this year. All pets are eligible.

Photographs should be dropped off at Waggin’ Wheels Pet Supply, 709 Cloverleaf Road, Elizabethtown, Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Photos may also be sent to 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue, PO Box 549, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 or dropped at the Fair Office on Saturday, August 19th from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Photos must be 5” x 7” or 8” x 10”. To ensure good visibility, vertical 8” x 10” photographs are recommended. Photos MUST fit in an 8” x 10” space. If more than one photo of the same pet is submitted, both photos must fit in the 8” x 10” space. Photos may be cut to fit and stapled or taped to the display.

The owner’s name, address and phone number, as well as the pet’s breed and name, MUST appear on the back of the photo. Entries are limited to two per family.

Photos will be on display for voting throughout Fair Week. It is recommended that photos be picked up Saturday, August 26th, at the Pet Photo Display following the announcement of winners. Any photos not picked up at this time will be available for pick-up at Waggin’ Wheels Pet Supply. All photos must be claimed by September 8, 2017.

The three pet photos receiving the most votes (one cent equals one vote) will receive gift certificates donated by Waggin’ Wheels. All forms of United States money are acceptable. Proceeds from the Pet Photo Contest will benefit the 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue and the Elizabethtown Fair.

Pet Show Contest

The annual Pet Show Contest will be held at the Elizabethtown Fair this year. All pets are eligible. Children K-9th Grade are invited to participate. The Pet Show will be held August 26th at 12:30 p.m. in the Animal Complex. All entrants will receive a parking pass so they can take their pet home after the show and return without paying again to park.

The following classes will be judged: Class I Dogs - Largest, Smallest, Rescue, Best Dressed, Best Decorated Float; Class II Cats - Largest, Smallest, Rescue, Best Dressed, Best Decorated Float; Class III Other Pets - Largest, Smallest Furriest, Rescue, Most Unusual, Most Colorful, Group, Best Dressed, Best Decorated Float. A pet may be entered in two categories.

Dog exhibitors must provide proof that their dog has been immunized against Parvo Disease and rabies. Cat exhibitors must provide proof that their cat has been immunized against rabies. All rules and classes can be found on our exhibitor materials page.

Cornhole Tournament

The second annual Cornhole Tournament will be held Thursday, August 24th, beginning at 6:00 p.m. The tournament will be limited to 30 teams. Teams will consist of 2 people. The American Corn Organization (ACO) rules will be used, except as specified by he Fair. Boards and bags will be supplied by the Fair. Judges decision is final.
